PHU QUOC, VIETNAM, November 14, 2024 — The numbers are in for the APT Phu Quoc 2024 VND 36M Main Event—run in partnership with VPT at the Corona Theater located within the luxurious Corona Resort & Casino—with the tournament drawing 795 entries (400 unique).
This is a new APT record for the Phu Quoc tour stop, and a sizeable 56 percent increase on the APT Phu Quoc 2023 Main Event, which saw 507 entries compete for a VND 14.75 billion (USD 619K) prize pool, making the APT Phu Quoc 2024 Main Event's VND 25 billion (~USD 1 million) prize pool 46 percent richer than the previous tour offering.
A total of 292 survivors made it through the four starting flights, but with Taiwan's Hsuan-Cheng Lai, South Korea's Jeong Injae, and China's Ning Zhang all making it through twice, their shortest stack was removed from play.
These 289 main event veterans were joined by a further 42 Day 2 entries to bring the remaining field up to 331 players who duked it out over ten 60-minute levels in an attempt to earn a share of the tour's richest Phu Quoc-based tournament prize pool.
It is the VND 4,710,000,000 (~USD 185,430) top prize that all will be aiming for, in addition to the award-winning 24K Gold Lion APT Main Event Trophy and all the accolades that accompany it.

With only the top 13 places paid and 48 players fighting their way through the eight 40-minute levels played there is still plenty of play remaining until the eventual champion can hoist the trophy and claim the VND 1,019,780,000 (~USD 40,150) top prize.
