PHU QUOC, VIETNAM, November 12, 2024 — The APT Phu Quoc 2024 festival—run in partnership with VPT at the Corona Theater located within the luxurious Corona Resort & Casino—has reached the halfway point, with Flight B of the VND 36M Main Event and its tasty VND 25 billion (~USD 1 million) guarantee drawing 204 entries (156 unique), which brings the total field up to 393 entries so far.
Players battled over six 45-minute levels and a further four 60-minute levels all looking to win their way through to a place in Day 2 with 66 of them finding a chip bag at the end of the evening’s play.
It was Sergei Korzhenko who topped the Flight B leaderboard with the Russian player filling up his chip bag with a sizeable stack of 372,300, putting him at the summit of the chip counts for the time being, although there are still two more starting flights left to play out.
Korzhenko was joined at the top by the active Nang Quang Nguyen, with the Vietnamese player enjoying a busy day at the tables contesting lots of pots, including a couple against Korzhenko, to amass a stack of 323,000.
China’s Kaihua Huang was the only other player to bag up a stack of over 300K, concluding the action with 306,200 in chips. The Netherland’s Ronald Haverkamp, Vietnam’s Cao Tran Ngoc, and Taiwan’s Yu Chung “Nevan” Chang all bagged top ten stacks:

Other notables to finish the day with six-figure stacks include China’s Yingrui Ge (196,300), Russia’s Rudolf Domin (176,100), Thailand All-Time Money List #4 Phanlert Sukonthachartnant (171,300), and #2 Kannapong Thanarattrakul (152,500), and Singapore’s The Naing (139,500).
Other accomplished players to make it through include Cypriot bracelet winner Georgios Skarparis (97,100), Sweden’s Mikael Andersson (88,800), Russia’s Dmitrii Belikov (60,600), and the Philippines’ David “Spade” Erquiaga (43,800).

With two more starting flights left to play out, there are still opportunities for players to win their way through; The final two starting Flights C & D—both boasting six 30-minute levels and four 40-minute levels each—get underway on Wednesday, November 13, at 11am and 6pm respectively, although late registration remains open until the start of Day 2, which kicks off at 11am on Thursday, November 14.
