PHU QUOC, VIETNAM, March 28, 2023 – The second of the four starting flights of the APT Phu Quoc ₫30,000,000+3,000,000 Main Event is in the books.

Playing out at the Sapphire Conference Room at the luxurious Corona Resort & Casino, a field of 141 entries comprised of 108 unique players battled it out on Flight B for a Day 2 Main Event seat.

Combined with the 172 Flight A entries, that brings the total field up to 313 with Flights C & D still left to play out.

Notables in contention included APT Hanoi VSOP 2023 Main Event champion Hai Nam Hoang, the Philippines' Florencio Campomanes, the UK's Grant Gardner, India's Siddharth Karia, the USA's Peter Kiem, Japan's Ken Okada, and Shunsuke Tokoo, and Malaysia's Willian Teoh to name but a few.

After the ten 45-minute levels were concluded, just 56 players survived to bag up their chips.

For the second day in a row it was a South Korean player to top the Main Event leaderboard, with Seok Hyeon Park enjoying a late surge to end Flight B atop the chip counts with a stack of 368,500.

Park topped the counts by a significant margin, bagging over 100K more than next closest rival Samuel Deering, who concluded play with 266,600 in chips.

Mongolia's Enkhbold Byambajaw was the only other player to bag up a stack above 200K, locking up third on the leaderboard after finishing with 238,500 in chips.

APT Super High Roller runner-up Anarbayasgalan Sainjargal put on another stellar display, bagging the sixth largest stack of 172,200, with the top ten Flight B stacks as follows:

Of the aforementioned notables, only Siddharth Karia was unable to lock up a Day 2 berth, with Peter Kiem (141,400), Florencio Campomanes (137,500), former champion Hai Nam Hoang (111,200), and Grant Gardner (102,800) all bagging six-figure stacks.

William Teoh (84,800), Ken Okada (68,700), and Shunsuke Tokoo (65,800) will also return with healthy stacks, and the 55 Flight B survivors will join the 66 Flight A survivors for Day 2, which gets underway on Thursday, March 30.

With two more starting flights left to play out, there are still opportunities for those who were unsuccessful in their endeavors to win their way through.

The final two starting Flights C & D both boast 30-minute levels and will get underway on Wednesday, March 29 at 12pm and 5pm respectively. However, late registration remains open until the 12pm start of Day 2 on Thursday, March 30.

Tran Van Tai Claims Gold and Maiden APT Title in Single Day High Roller – 8 Max For ₫904.81M (~$38.9K)

The ₫50,000,000+5,000,000 Event #19 Single Day High Roller – 8 Max attracted the largest high roller field of the Series so far, with the 64 entries (50 unique) generating a ₫3,104,000,000 (~$133,475) prize pool.

Some of Asia's best and brightest battled for the ₫904,810,000 (~$38,900) top prize.

Notables in the running including China's Dong Chen and Yake Wu, the Philippines' Lester Edoc and Mike Takayama, APT Super High Roller finalist Roman Hrabec, APT Da Nang Main Event champion Doo Sik Nam, and Natural8 Ambassador Phachara Wongwichit to name but a few.

However, after twenty-five 30-minute levels it was Vietnam's Tran Van Tai who raised the trophy to cheers of adulation from the vocal local rail.

Tai defeated Event #3 Turbo – 8 Max champion Worawat Kiatponglap heads-up after a lengthy heads-up confrontation to claim gold and his maiden APT title.

Denied a second series title, Kiatponglap and his entusiastic Thai rail had to settle for the ₫651,840,000 (~$28,030) on offer for second place.

Lester Edoc, who was on the hunt for his sixth APT High Roller title, rounded out the podium to take bronze and the ₫423,700,000 (~$17,800) third-place prize.

Despite coming into the unofficial nine-handed final table with the chip lead, China's Dong Chen could not convert this into a win and took fourth-place for ₫319,710,000 (~$13,750).

Other notables to cash included Yake Wu (7th for ₫152,100,000), and Japan's Motoyoshi Okamura (8th for ₫117,950,000) – the latter making his second APT high roller final table appearence in as many days.

Dhaval Mudgal Takes Second APT Title in Event #20 Freezeout Winning ₫157.16M (~$6.6K)

It proved to be third time's the charm for India's Dhaval Mudgal in the ₫10,000,000+1,000,000 Event #20 Freezeout, who defeated a 54-strong field to take the largest slice of the ₫523,800,000 (~$22,500) prize pool.

Mudgal – making his third final table appearance in as many days – dominated the majority of the action to close out the win and claim the ₫157,160,000 (~$6,600) top prize after a brief heads-up battle against Australia's Jennifer Cassell.

The Indian player came into the official eight-handed final table second in chips, but soon edged into a chip lead he would not relinquish.

Mudgal came into the heads-up confrontation with over a 3-to-1 lead and while Cassell put up a spirited fight, the Indian player claimed his second APT title and the Aussie had to settle for the ₫113,660,000 (~$4,880) runner-up prize.

A total of eight players made the money after a grueling two-and-a-half-hour bubble, which ended in spectacular fashion when the Philippines' Joseph Talamayan ran pocket tens into the pocket aces of the USA's Albert Gorelik, who promptly flopped quads to guarantee all eight remaining finalists a payday.

Vietnam's Vu Van Lich Takes Down Event #18 Turbo For ₫193.8M (~$8,140) to Claim Second APT Title

Playing out in the early hours of Tuesday morning, the ₫15,000,000+1,500,000 Event #18 Turbo saw 30 players (21 unique) in action, all fighting for a slice of the ₫523,800,000 (~$22,000) prize pool.

It was Vietnam's Vu Van Lich who claimed the lion's share, defeating Event #19 Single Day High Roller – 8 Max champion Nobuaki Sasaki to take the ₫193,800,000 (~$8,140) top prize – earning his second APT title in the process.

Denied a second Series title, Sasaki congratulated Lich on his victory with a hug before heading to the cash desk to claim the ₫133,570,000 (~$5,610) runner-up reward.

India's Deepak Bothra followed up his 15th-place finish in the APT Kickoff by claiming bronze and the ₫85,120,000 (~$3,575) third-place prize.

Bothra's fellow countryman Dhaval Mudgal followed up his fifth-place finish in the Sunday Super Stack by going one better and taking fourth place for ₫61,550,000 ($2,645), with APT Super High Roller finalist Hon Cheong Lee taking ₫49,760,000 ($2,090) for fifth.

Vietnam's Manh Hung Dinh Claims the Crown in Event #22 NLH – Super Hold'Em (3 Hole Cards) – Turbo For ₫69.98M (~$2.9K)

The ₫5,000,000+500,000 Event #22 NLH – Super Hold'Em (3 Hole Cards) – Turbo saw 39 players (27 unique) ante up the entry fee and fight it out at the felt for a share of the ₫189,150,000 (~$8,130) prize pool.

After eighteen 15-minute levels it was Vietnam's Manh Hung Dinh who claimed the crown and the ₫69,980,000 (~$2,940) top prize.

Dinh came into heads-up against Australia's Martin Jackschitz with the chip lead and closed out the win to take his second APT title, with Jackschitz receiving ₫48,230,000 (~$2,075) for his runner-up finish.
