DA NANG, VIETNAM, July 26, 2023 – The APT Summer Series Da Nang, Vietnam 2023 continues to build momentum, with the final two starting flights of the VND 12 billion (~USD $500,000) guaranteed Main Event playing out at the Ariyana Convention Centre – located at the luxurious five-star beachfront Furama Resort Da Nang.
The total number of entries currently stands at 648, and with registration remaining open until 11am local time on Thursday, July 27, this number is expected to grow further.
Flight C got underway at 12pm drawing 149 entries (128 unique) who fought it out at the felt over the course of ten 30-minute levels.
It was Malaysia's Shyh Chyn Lim who topped the Flight C chip counts, bagging up a stack of 236,700 – which puts him seventh in the overall pecking order coming into Day 2.
Australia's William Bolton was hot on Lim's heels, concluding play with a stack of 226,700, with Vietnam's Tran Minh Nhat (202,700) rounded out Flight C's top three stacks.
Australia's Joshua Mccully continued the blistering run of form that has seen him clinch two High Roller titles this Series, bagging the ninth biggest stack (144,300) with the top ten as follows:

Poland's Lukasz Jankowski bagged biggest on Flight D of the Main Event
Flight D saw a further 111 entries (89 unique), with Poland's Lukasz Jankowski clawing his way to the top of the chip counts.
Jankowski concluded play with a stack of 200,800, which puts him nineteenth in the overall standings for Day 2.
Malaysia's Gabriel Lim and Thailand's Chanasit Sangrungkongka both bagged stacks of 190,000 to round out the top three Flight D stacks, with the top ten as follows:

Japan's Namiki Takamitsu was the only player to qualify for Day 2 twice, meaning Takamitsu's shortest stack has been removed from play.
A total of 270 survivors from the four starting flights will return to action for Day 2, with registration remaining open until 11am when the tournament restarts on Thursday, July 27.
Vietnam's Pham Anh Tops Tough Field in Event #35 Single Day High Roller 8 Max to Claim Maiden APT Title
Vietnam's Pham Duy Anh topped a tough High Roller field to claim his maiden APT title in Event #35 Single Day High Roller 8 Max
The sixth of the APT Summer Series Da Nang's scheduled High Roller tournaments – the VND 70,000,000 Event #35 Single Day High Roller - 8 Max – saw 57 high rolling entries (39 unique) competing for the largest prize pool of the Series so far.
With VND 3,483,270,000 (~USD $146,315) in the purse the battle for a place in the top eight paying positions was a tumultuous affair.
Notables in the running included High Roller champions Yu-Chung Chang, Nguyen Trung Quan, and Gavin Flynn, Summer Series Hanoi Superstar Challange champion Alan Pham, APT Super High Roller champions Shung Er Sua and Julian Warhurst, two-time Series High Roller champion Joshua Mccully, and recent Chinese bracelet winner Renji Mao, with Japanese rockstar Gakuto "Gackt" Oshiro adding some extra sparkle.
The action played out over twenty-three 25-minute levels, with Vietnam's Pham Duy Anh topping the tough line-up to take the VND 1,044,970,000 (~USD $43,900) top prize.
Anh came within touching distance of claiming his maiden APT title during February's APT Hanoi where he finished runner-up to India's Shardul Parthasarathi in Event #27 Single Day High Roller - 8 Max.
The Vietnames player would not be denied a second time, defeating compatriot Do Quang Trinh heads-up to lock up the win.
Trinh, who was also on the hunt for his first APT title, was forced to settle for the VND 755,870,000 (~USD $31,750) on offer for second.
China's Yuhang Chen took bronze and a payout of VND 487,660,000 (~USD $20,480) for his third-place finish, with the tournament paying out as follows:

Vietnam's Ngoc Minh Le Wins Second Series Title in Event #34 NLH - Single Re-Entry for VND 352.8M (~USD $14.8K)
Vietnam's Ngoc Minh Le claimed a second Series title in Event #34 NLH - Single Re-Entry
Getting underway at 12:15pm and running concurrently with Flight C of the Main Event, the VND 14,000,000 Event #34 NLH - Single Re-Entry drew a 113-strong field (87 unique).
Players battled it out over twenty-seven 25-minute levels to earn their share of the VND 1,381,086,000 (~USD $57,860) prize pool, with 15 of them rewarded for their efforts.
It was Vietnam's Ngoc Minh Le who claimed the lion's share, defeating Russia's Sergei Iablokov after a lengthy three-level long heads-up confrontation to take the VND 352,876,000 (~USD $14,830) top prize and clinch his second APT title of the Series, following up on his win in Event #33 NLH - 2nd Best Hold'em - Hyper Turbo – which you can read about below.
Iablokov made Le work hard for the victory and while the Russian will be disappointed to come up short, he earned a VND 243,070,000 (~USD $12,210) consolation prize for his runner-up finish.
Vietnam's Nguyen Ngoc Son rounded out the podium, collecting VND 159,520,000 (~USD $6,700) for his third-place finish, with the final table paying out as follows:

Taiwan's Hsiao-Chin "Elfin" Lin Conquers Women's Event for VND 77M (~USD $3.2K)
Taiwan's Hsiao-Chin "Elfin" Lin won her first APT title in the Women's Event
The VND 5,000,000 Event #36 Women's Event kicked off at 4pm local time and saw 59 entries (43 unique) in action, all looking to stake their claim to the VND 257,535,000 (~USD $10,820) prize pool.
It took twenty-five 20-minute levels to crown a champion: Those of you who have watched any of the recent Asian Poker Tour coverage on the APT social media channels such as X (formerly Twitter) may recognise the winner, with APT host Hsiao-Chin "Elfin" Lin proving her poker credentials.
Lin defeated Japan's Miyaka Miyoshi to take the VND 77,265,000 (~USD $3,250) top prize, in addition to the trophy and title.
Miyoshi had to settle for silver and the VND 55,890,000 (~USD $2,350) on offer for second, with Macau's Minya Chen taking bronze and VND 36,050,000 (~USD $1,515) for third-place.

The UK's James South Sails to Victory in Event #32 Turbo
The UK's James South claimed his maiden APT title in Event #32 Turbo
Another of the late night turbo tournaments has a crowned a champion, with the UK's James South sailing to victory in the VND 6,000,000 Event #32 Turbo.
South saw off challenges from a 129-strong field (97 unique) to take the biggest slice of the VND 675,702,000 (~USD $28,325) prize pool after the twenty-one turbo-charged 15-minute levels played out.
The Brit bested Vietnam's Thanh Hung Tran heads-up to claim the VND 169,992,000 (~USD $7,130) top prize and his maiden APT title, with Tran taking VND 114,870,000 (~USD $4,820) for his runner-up finish.
China's Zhi Wen Deng followed up his Mystery Bounty Hunter win with a third place finish, which was good for VND 74,670,000 (~USD $3,130).
Jia-Ming Zhang was on the hunt for a fourth Series title, but the Taiwanese player was unsuccessful this time around, although he did make his fifth cash of the Series – earning VND 11,150,000 for fourteenth place.

One of the more interesting Hyper Turbo events on the schedule, the VND 4,000,000 Event #33 NLH - 2nd Best Hold'em (2nd best hand wins) - Hyper Turbo rewards the pot to the player with the second best hand.
Usually, ending up with the second best hand in poker costs you money. However, in this case it made for some entertaining action and some of the most creative bluffs ever to grace the APT felt.
Playing out in the early hours of Wednesday morning, 35 entries (22 unique) tried their hand at one of the newest additions to the APT schedule, competing for a share of the VND 122,220,000 (~USD $5,125) prize pool as the tournament played out over seventeen fast-paced 10-minute levels.
It was Vietnam's Ngoc Minh Le who turned finishing second best into an artform, defeating Jorris Michl after the Dutchman ran good at the wrong time and rivered top pair to lose the tournament.
In addition to taking the VND 45,220,000 (~USD $1,900) top prize, Le also claimed his maiden APT title, with Michl collecting VND 31,170,000 (~USD $1,300) for his runner-up finish.
China's Jun Weng took bronze and a payout of VND 19,860,000 (~USD $830) for third place, with five players making the money and the tournament paying out as follows:
