PHU QUOC, VIETNAM, November 13, 2024 — The final two flights of the VND 25 billion (~USD 1 million) guaranteed APT Phu Quoc 2024 VND 36M Main Event—run in partnership with VPT at the Corona Theater located within the luxurious Corona Resort & Casino—are in the books with the field climbing to 753 total entries with late registration remaining open until the start of Day 2.
Both remaining starting flights came with six 30-minute levels and a further four 45-minute levels with Flight C getting the action underway at 11am local time (GMT+7), drawing 225 entries (164 unique), with 92 players making it through to Day 2.
It is Jinlong Hu who sits at the summit of the tournament chip counts; the Chinese player sending Austria’s Manuel Blaschke to the rail in one of the last hands played on the final level to bag up the biggest overall stack of 476,600, meaning Hu will be returning for Day 2 in pole position.
Vietnam’s Do Tien Vu also enjoyed a great day at the tournament tables, concluding the action with a stack of 447,800 and was the only other Flight C player to crack 400K. Australia’s Truong Thang Minh maxed out his stack at 357,000 to round out the top three chip counts, with Taiwan’s Li Ta “Leon” Hsu continuing the run of form that has seen him claim six APT titles this year by bagging a top ten stack:

APT Taipei 2023 Main Event runner-up Soo Bum Kim (164,700) also bagged a six-figure stack, with other notables to make it through including Thailand’s Kiwanont Sukhum (86,200), Australia’s Nelson Dong (74,100), Russia’s Natalia Rozova (61,700), and Malaysia’s Jason Lau (29,300).

Flight D frontrunner Shi Bei
The Flight D action got underway at 6pm and saw a further 135 entries (101 unique) enter the fray with 64 of them fighting their way through to Day 2.
China’s Shi Bei bagged biggest, concluding the ten levels played with a stack of 298,600, putting him eighth in the overall Day 2 counts.
Vietnam’s Pham Duy Anh (220,000), and Nguyen Hong Quan (200,600) were the only other two players to crack 200K on Flight D to round out the top three.
A total of 64 players survived the Flight D carnage with APT Incheon 2023 High Roller champion Thanisorn Saelor another to enjoy a great day at the tables, with the Thai player bagging a top ten stack:

The 289 survivors from the four starting flights will combine for Day 2, with registration remaining open until the start of play, which gets underway at 11am on Thursday, November 14, and will play either ten 60-minute levels or down to 48 players – whichever comes first.
