DA NANG, VIETNAM, July 30, 2023 – The sun's over the yardarm at the APT Summer Series Da Nang, Vietnam 2023 with the festival topping the Tours' previous Summer Series outing in Hanoi and showcasing some scintillating poker.
Playing out at the Ariyana Convention Centre – located at the luxurious five-star beachfront Furama Resort Da Nang the ten-day, 57-trophy-event attracted 5,180 entries in total, with 840 unique players from 35 different countries/regions competing for an eye-watering VND 84,687,984,000 (~USD $3,574,880) in Series prize money – a 7% increase on the Tours' previous Summer Series Hanoi prize pool figures.

The VND 35M Main Event was the highlight of the Series, setting a new APT prize pool record for Vietnam and seeing a 16% increase in entries over Hanoi.
Just under a quarter (24%) of the Series prize money was awarded in the 675-strong Main Event, which saw 381 unique players from 25 different countries/regions compete for a VND 20,624,625,000 (~USD $866,360) prize pool.
It was Singapore's Shixiang Khoo claiming the coveted 24K golden lion APT Main Event trophy, earning a career-best score of VND 3,935,285,000 (~USD $165,280) for his maiden major title victory.

The APT High Roller boasted the second largest prize pool, with the VND 11,244,240,000 (~USD $474,680) purse accounting for a further 13% of the total prize money awarded.
It was Vietnam's Nguyen Hoang Long who claimed the coveted bronze APT High Roller lion trophy – more on that below – with the pewter lion APT Single Day Super High Roller trophy heading to the land down under with Australia's Julian Warhurst.

Vietnam's Nguyen Hoang Long Wins APT High Roller for VND 2.61M (~USD $110K)
Vietnam's Nguyen Hoang Long tamed the bronze lion in the APT High Roller, claiming his second Series title in the process
Just 25 players out of the 161-strong field returned to action for the second and final day of the VND 80,000,000 APT High Roller - 8 Max - VND 4,000,000,000 GTD, all focused on winning the lion's share of the VND 11,244,240,000 (~USD $474,680) prize pool – the largest of the Series outside of the Main Event.
Of course, it was the VND 2,614,280,000 (~USD $110,360) top prize and the coveted bronze lion APT High Roller trophy that was goal of all remaining players.
It was Vietnam's Nguyen Hoang Long the man to claim that honor, defeating compatriot Ngo Khoa Anh after a 25-hand back-and-forth heads-up battle.
Long – making his third final table appearance of the Series – battled back from a two-to-three chip deficit to take his second title win of the Series, following up on his victory in the Zodiac Classic two days prior.
This win, however, was worth considerably more, in terms of both cash and kudos, granting Long a career best score and his first major title victory.
While Anh will be disappointed to have been unable to convert his chip lead into a maiden APT title victory, the VND 1,770,970,000 (~USD $74,760) on offer for second was also a career-best score for the Vietnamese player.
Australia's Matthew Bevin was another who made a career-best score, collecting VND 1,180,650,000 (~USD $49,840) for his third-place finish.
Taiwan-based Malaysian player Shung Er Sua came agonizingly close to becoming the first player to make APT history and claim a second flagship lion trophy, exiting in fifth place for a VND 775,850,000 (USD $32,750) payout, with the final table results as follows:

Other notables to cash but come up short of a place in the final nine included APT Phu Quoc Main Event runner-up Julien Tran (12th for VND 191,150,000), and APT Super High Roller champion Julian Warhurst (20th for VND 141,680,000).

Vietnam's Thanh Nguyen Takes the Max in Mini Main Event Event
Vietnam's Thanh Nguyen claimed his maiden APT title in the Mini Main Event
Just 42 survivors from a combined field of 301 entries returned for the second and final day of the VND 11,000,000 Mini Main Event, all looking to stake their claim to the penultimate APT Summer Series Da Nang marquee trophy.
All returning players were already guaranteed a piece of the VND 2,890,503,000 (~USD $122,020) prize pool and a payout of VND 16,960,000 (~USD $715).
It took thirteen 30-minute levels to whittle the field down to the last man standing, and it was Vietnam's Thanh Nguyen who took the accolades after cutting a three-way ICM deal with opponents Shun Hong Ng, and Bao Sheng Woon.
This saw Nguyen take a first place payout of VND 480,233,000 (~USD $20,270) and claim his maiden APT title and the silver lion silhouette trophy.
Singapore's Ng locked up a payout of VND 387,610,000 (~USD $16,380) for second, with compatriot Bao taking a VND 356,510,000 (~USD $15,070) payday for third with the final table paying out as follows:

Third Time's the Charm for Taiwan's Yu-Chung Chang in Event #58 Last Chance High Roller
Taiwan's third final table appearance of the Series resulted in some silverware in Event #58 Last Chance High Roller
As the name suggests, the tenth and final APT Summer Series High Roller tournament – the VND 50,000,000 Event #58 Last Chance High Roller – represented the final opportunity for the APT's high roller contingent to bag a trophy.
This saw 38 high-rolling entries (30 unique) fighting it out over twenty-four 20-minute levels, all looking to seize their last chance at glory and a share of the VND 1,658,700,000 (~USD $70,020) prize pool.
It proved to be third time's the charm for Taiwan's Yu-Chung Chang, whose third final table appearance of the Series resulted in some silverware.
Chang followed up his 4th-place finish in the Main Event and 18th-place in the APT High Roller by clinching his fourth APT title.
The Taiwanese APT regular defeated Japan's Jun Tsuboi heads-up to finish his Series on a high, taking home the VND 613,710,000 (~USD $25,900 top prize.
Tsuboi received VND 422,970,000 (~USD $17,850) for his runner-up finish, with Vietnam's Duong Trung Thuy rounding out the podium, taking VND 269,540,000 (~USD $11,380) for third.

With the last of the Series marquee event trophies on the line, the VND 7,000,000 Event #56 Micro Main Event attracted a field of 153 entries (107 unique), all looking to take this last shot at fortune and glory and a share of the VND 934,983,000 (~USD $39,470) prize pool.
The action played out over thirty-one 20 min levels, with Vietnam's Nguyen Duc Thanh closing out his Series on a high and claiming his maiden APT title after cutting a deal with heads-up opponent Minh Tri Phan Huu.
Thanh took the trophy, title and a top prize of VND 173,100,000 (~USD $7,300), with compatriot Huu earning a payout of VND 203,703,000 (~USD $8,600) for second place.
Thailand's Piyalap Ungprasert rounded out the podium, receiving VND 100,510,000 (~USD $4,240) for third place.

Thailand's Kiwanont Sukhum claimed his third APT title in Event #54 Turbo
Playing out in the early hours of Sunday morning, the VND 7,000,000 Event #54 Turbo drew a 63-strong field comprised of 53 unique entries.
These players battled it out over nineteen fast-paced 15-minute levels, all looking to earn their slice of the VND 384,993,000 (~USD $16,250) prize pool, with nine of them proving successful.
It was Thailand's Kiwanont Sukhum who claimed the win, defeating Hong Kong's Ching Hei Kwok heads-up to take the VND 112,233,000 (~USD $4,740) top prize.
Sukham earned his third APT title in the process, and now has one of the New Era baby lion side event trophies to accompany his old-school APT foo lion side event trophy, and silver lion silhouette trophy he won in the record-breaking Mystery Bounty Hunter back at APT Taipei in late April.
Kwok collected VND 80,850,000 (~USD $3,410) for his runner-up finish, with Taiwan's Yao Yu Ho completing the winners' triumvirate and taking VND 52,550,000 (~USD $2,220) for third, with the tournament paying out as follows:

The last of the Series late-night Hyper Turbo tournaments – the VND 4,000,000 Event #55 NLH - Crazy Pineapple (Get 3, discard 1 post-flop) - Hyper Turbo – played out in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
A fun take on No Limit Hold'em that see players receive three hole cards and discard one post-flop, the tournament drew a 49-strong field (42 unique).
Players duked it out for a share of the VND 171,108,000 (~USD $7,220) prize pool over the course of twenty turbo-charged 10-minute levels.
It was South Korea's Jeongyeol Yu who rode the pineapple express to victory after cutting an ICM chip chop deal with heads-up opponent Pham Song Hau that saw Yu take the title, trophy, and a top prize of VND 39,438,000 (~USD $1,660).

South Korea's Jeongyeol Yu claimed his second title of the Series in Event #59 NL - 2-7 - Single Draw
The last of the Series mixed games – the VND 3,000,000 Event #59 NL - 2-7 - Single Draw – saw 43 entries (25 unique) clash over twenty 20-minute levels in an attempt to win their share of the VND 112,617,000 (~USD $4,750) prize pool.
This saw the eighth double title winner of the Series crowned, with South Korea's Jeongyeol Yu claiming his second APT title in as many days.
Yu bested Ha Van Thien heads-up to win his second baby lion trophy and the VND 38,297,000 (~USD $1,615) top prize, with his Vietnamese opponent collecting VND 26,460,000 (~USD $1,115) for his runner-up finish.
