TAIPEI, TAIWAN, September 30, 2024 – India’s Abhinav Iyer sits at the top of the leaderboard in Event #32: High Roller - Double Stack at the end of Day 1.

The WSOP bracelet winner and APT Ho Chi Minh Main Event Champion in 2019 is currently sitting on 1,598,000 chips. Martin Chenan Carnero from the United States is close behind with 1,437,000 chips, while South Korea’s Wongyu Kang rounds off the top three stacks of the event with 1,428,000 chips.

The first day of the event saw 182 entries (133 unique), with 63 left standing for Day 2. Action begins again the next day at 11.15am, with the winner set to take home more than TWD 2 million (~USD 63,285) in prize money. The top chip stacks can be found below:

Antonio Seremet Takes Down Event #28: Hyper Turbo - NL Single Draw Mix

. Seremet’s victory means his third APT title in mixed games.

Australia’s Antonio Seremet seizes his third APT title by winning Event #28: Hyper Turbo - NL Single Draw Mix. The event saw 61 entrants (54 unique) taking part. This victory is Seremet’s third trophy in mixed games at APT circuits. He pockets a nice payday of TWD 74,736 (~USD 2,364) for his efforts.

Hong Kong’s Ka Shing Mak went head’s up against Seremet but ultimately settled for second place, enough for a TWD 53,000 (~USD 1,677) cash prize. Youhei Shirayama from Japan managed to come in third, pocketing TWD 35,000 (~USD 1,107) in prize money.

Fellow Australian Mark Furniss, winner of Event #7: Turbo - PL Omaha Hi-Lo - 5 Card (Big O) earlier in the series made an appearance at the final table, finishing fifth. The final table payouts were as below:

King of Hearts Wongpipatchai Takes Crown in Event #29: Super Hyper Turbo

The King of Hearts swept the competition away.

They say you have to be dressed for success, and Thailand’s Chayathon Wongpipatchai took that literally by taking the throne in Event #29: Super Hyper Turbo dressed as the King of Hearts. Wongpipatchai stood above the rest of a record field (228 entries, 208 unique) that came out in droves for the Super Hyper Turbo format. The previous record was set at APT Jeju 2024 back in April at 87 entries.

South Korea’s Wooseok Kim was Wongpipatchai head’s up opponent. Before they battled for the title, a deal was struck that both players would lock up TWD 225,000 (~USD 7,119), with the head’s up winner taking home an additional TWD 25,300 (~USD 800) and the trophy.

As a result, Wongpipatchai, who prior to the event had total live earnings of USD 566 takes home a king’s ransom of TWD 250,300 (~USD 7,920), a massive addition to his bankroll. Kim pockets TWD 225,000 (~USD 7,119), while third place finisher Hao Wang from Taiwan secured TWD 135,000 (~USD 4,271).

Taiwan’s Ching Beats Record Field in Event #30: Omaha Masters - PL Omaha High

Taiwan’s Jeng Yi Ching beats record field for Omaha in APT’s history.

Local Jeng Yi Ching outlasted a record field for APT in Event #30: Omaha Masters - PL Omaha High to win his first APT title. The event saw 83 entries (51 unique) taking part, with the last record set in APT Jeju 2024 at 71 entries (46 unique). The event also featured a record prize pool for the Omaha format in APT’s history.

Ching went head’s up against Peter Park of the United States. The battle was a gruelling one, which Ching ultimately prevailed. Ching brings home TWD 699,920 (~USD 22,147) in prize money and the APT trophy, while Park pockets TWD 490,000 (~USD 15,504). Coming close was Rehman Kassam from the United Kingdom, who takes home TWD 320,000 (~USD 10,125) for third place.

Himathongkom Stands Tall Above Rest in Event #33: NL - Hold'em

Himathongkom’s victory secures a fourth title for Thailand this series.

Thailand’s Pongsapak Himathongkom emerged victorious in Event #33: NL - Hold'em, securing his first major title and trophy of his poker career. Himathongkom proved himself to be best of a 178-strong field (140 unique), significantly boosting his lifetime career winnings with a TWD 893,800 (~USD 28,282) purse.

The Thai contingent has been seeing a lot of success in this series so far, with Himathongkom victory the fourth title for the land of smiles. Himathongkom beat Hong Kong’s Yiu Yeung Leung head’s up, whose compatriot Chun Shing Lau was also part of the top three. Leung brings home TWD 605,600 (~USD 19,162) while Lau pockets TWD 403,700 (~USD 12,774).

Notable entrants include Australia’s Jennifer Cassell, previous winner of the Event #66 Women’s Event in APT Taipei earlier this year. She makes a final table appearance here. The event paid 23 players for finishing in the money, with the payouts for the final table below:

Tan Claims Second Title of This Series in Event #35: Limit - Triple Stud

Tan claims his second APT title of the series.

China’s Chuning Tan continues his winning streak by claiming another APT title in Event #35: Limit - Triple Stud (Razz, Stud, Stud Hi-Lo). Tan, a regular mixed games circuit player won his first APT title in Event #11: PL Omaha Hi-Lo - 5 Card (Big O) and is showing amazing consistency beating out tough fields in mixed games in the series. Tan beat out 91 entrants (86 unique) en route to his victory.

His victory in this event secures a purse of TWD 81,012 (~USD 2,563). Tan went up against Masashi Tamaru from Japan, whose nation once again has a majority representation in a final table for mixed games. Tamaru takes home TWD 56,000 (~USD 1,771) for second place while Bernard Shek from Hong Kong adds another final table appearance in a mixed games event, securing TWD 37,000 (~USD 1,170).

Hsuan Claims Another Title for Locals in Event #36: Women's Event

Taiwan’s Hsuang wins her first APT title in the ladies’ event.

Taiwan’s own Hsu Fei Hsuan emerged victorious in the second ladies’ event of the series, Event #36: Women's Event. Hsuan beat out 132 other entrants (93 unique) to win her first APT title and trophy of her poker career, and pockets a cool TWD 282,808 (~USD 8,948) prize purse.

Going head’s up against Hsuan was China’s Xuan Yang, who came close but ultimately managed second place for a cash prize of TWD 192,000 (~USD 6,075). Fellow Taiwanese Mei Ning Feng came in third place, and takes home TWD 125,000 (~USD 3,955).

Chen Caps Off Good Form with Victory in Event #39: Hyper Turbo - High Roller

Chen wins his first APT title.

Local Li Wei Chen beat out a tough field of high rollers in Event #39: Hyper Turbo - High Roller. Chen brings to form his first APT title for himself after a string of good results throughout the year, beating out 73 entrants (68 unique). Chen also pockets TWD 367,440 (~USD 11,626) in prize money.

Going against Chen head’s up was fellow Taiwanese Hao Wang, who makes his third final table appearance or the series. The duo battled it out for the APT title but it was the former who ultimately came out on top. Wang instead brings home a sizable purse of TWD 265,000 (~USD 8,385) for second place, while Chee Yong Sim from Malaysia rounds off the podium with a third place finish worth TWD 172,000 (~USD 5,442).
