INCHEON, SOUTH KOREA, August 29, 2023 – The action is beginning to come to the boil at the APT Incheon, South Korea 2023 with twelve tournaments playing out at the tournament tables of the luxurious Paradise City Casino.
It was Flight B of the KRW 1.3 billion (~USD $1 million) guaranteed APT Main Event that garnered the most attention, attracting 207 entries (171 unique) over the course of ten 45-minute levels.
Notables in action included former APT Main Event champions Lester Edoc, and Joseph Cheong, in addition to bracelet winners Yan Shing "Anson" Tsang, and Mike Takayama and a whole host of others.
However, it was Russia's Artem Sofronov the man sitting on top of the chip counts at the conclusion of play, bagging up a stack of 202,400 – potentially putting him seventh in the overall pecking order with two starting flights still left to play out.
Uzbekistan's Veleriy Pak (202,100) finished a close second, bagging up just 300 chips less, with Japan's Kazuki Obata (199,600) rounding out the top three, with the top ten as follows:

Japan's Katsuki Yamashita claimed his maiden tournament title in Event #35 Single Day High Roller Mystery Bounty 8 Max
A new addition to the APT schedule, the KRW 4,000,000 Event #35: Single Day High Roller - Mystery Bounty - 8 Max (50/50 Bounty) drew a field of 77 entries comprised of 59 unique players.
With the field paying out the top 11 places, and the bounties coming into play in the top 22 places, the tournament proved to be an action-packed affair as the players jockeyed for a place in the paying positions and a share of the KRW 134,442,000 (~USD $101,220) prize pool, with a further KRW 134,442,000 (~USD $101,220) in the bounty pool.

The field comprised of some of the Asia-Pacific's top players including bracelet winner's Alex Lindop, and Renji Mao, in addition several reigning and former champions in Superstar Challenge champions in Jun Hao Wu, and Joshua Mccully, APT Super High Roller champions Milos Petakovic, and Shung Er Sua, Kickoff champion Hong Ru Zhang, and Mystery Bounty champion and former APT Incheon Main Event champion Dicky Tsang.
Add in Natural8 Ambassador Yu Chung "Nevan" Chang, the Philippines #1 ranked tournament player Marc Rivera and a whole host of others and you have a receipe for a spicy tournament.
However, none of these poker luminaries would claim the prize, although Chang, Zhang, Petakovic, Rivera, Sua, and Wu would all make the money.
The action played out over ten 30-minute levels before registration closed, and it took a further fifteen 25-minute levels for Japan's Katsuki Yamashita to claim gold and the KRW 36,982,000 (~USD $28,050) top prize.
Yamashita fought his way through a stacked final table, defeating compatriot Motoki Jinno heads-up to claim a career best score and his maiden tournament title, with Jinno collecting KRW 26,280,000 (~USD $19,934) for his runner-up finish.
China's Hong Ru Zhang added yet another final table appearence to his tournament tally for the Series, taking KRW 17,210,000 (~USD $13,049) for his third-place finish, with the tournament paying out as follows:

Hong Kong's Alan King Lun Lau claimed his first APT trophy of the New Era in Event #29 PL Omaha 5 Card - Hi-Lo
Long live the king! Alan King Lun Lau is back to his winning ways, scoring his first live tournament title in five years after taking down the KRW 300,000 Event #29: PL Omaha 5 Card - Hi-Lo (Big O), which played out in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Lau – who now boasts an impressive 17 live tournament titles and over USD $2 million in career tournament winnings – triumphed over a 31-strong field (24 unique) to take the lion's share of the KRW 8,118,900 (~USD $6,130) prize pool.
This victory earned Lau his first New Era APT baby lion trophy and his second APT title, with the Hong Kong native defeating Japan's Daiki Aoki heads-up to lock up the KRW 3,008,900 (~USD $2,270) top prize.
Aoki received KRW 2,070,000 (~USD $1,560) for his runner-up finish, with compatriot Kaoru Kishimoto rounding out the podium and collecting KRW 1,320,000 (~USD $995) for third.

China's Chunsan Fan claimed his maiden APT title in Event #34 PL Omaha Hi-Lo
The KRW 500,000 Event #34: PL Omaha - Hi-Lo got underway at 12.15pm local time and drew a 32-strong field (22 unique).
These Hi-Lo connoisseurs competed over twenty-four 25-minute levels to stake their claim to a share of the KRW 13,968,000 (~USD $10,571) prize pool, with five of them clawing their way into the paying positions.
It was China's Chunsan Fan the man who claimed the biggest piece of the pie, blowing away Japan's Tatsuya Imanishi heads-up to take the KRW 5,168,000 (~USD $3,910) top prize.
Fan can now add an APT title to his list of accolades, edging the Chinese player closer to USD $200,000 in live tournament winnings.
Imanishi took KRW 3,560,000 (~USD $2,700) for his runner-up finish, with compatriot Takeshi Goto completing the winner's triumvirate and taking away KRW 2,270,000 (~USD $1,721) for third.

It was the KRW 300,000 Event #33: Limit 2-7 & Badugi - Triple Draw that opened the days tournament action, kicking off at 11.30am local time and drawing a 36-strong field (28 unique).
These triple draw enthusiasts battled it out over twenty-two 25-minute levels for a share of the KRW 9,428,400 (~USD $7,130) prize pool, with Hong Kong's Jeffrey Lo taking it to the limit to top the tournament.
Lo bested Japan's Takayasu Itagaki heads-up to take the KRW 3,488,400 (~USD $2,640) top prize and add a maiden APT title to his lengthy poker resume, which boasts close to USD $500,000 in live tournament winnings.

It was Hong Kong's Yan Shing "Anson" Tsang who swooped in to save the day and rescue the lion's share of the KRW 13,095,000 (~USD $9,924) prize pool after the twenty-four fast-paced 15-minute levels played out.
Tsang, who boasts over USD $3.3 million in live tournament winnings on a poker resume that includes two live bracelet wins plus an online one, can now add an APT title to his lengthy list of poker accolades.

Japan's Shiina Okamoto claimed her maiden live tournament title in Event #36 NL Hold'em Freezeout
Outside of the Main Event the KRW 1,000,000 Event #36: NL Hold'em Freezeout was one of the more popular draws of the day, attracted a 102-strong field and generating a KRW 89,046,000 (~USD $67,040) prize pool.
It took twenty-five 25-minute levels for Japan's Shiina Okamoto to ice the competition to claim her maiden live tournament title.
Okamoto – who came agonizingly close to her first taste of APT glory in the marquee Event #8 Mystery Bounty Hunter - Sponsored by Natural8 – was not to be denied a second time, defeating France's Julien Rouxel heads-up to take the KRW 22,756,000 (~USD $17,250) top prize.
In addition to claiming her maiden live tournament title and APT title, this result represents a career third-best score and brings her total live winnings up to over USD $230,000.
Rouxel, who was also on the hunt for his first live tournament title, had to settle for the KRW 15,670,000 (~USD $11,880) on offer for second.
Japan's Ryuki Shikano completed the winner's podium, taking KRW 10,280,000 (~USD $7,790) for third place.

Japan's Yuri Ishida won her fourth APT title in the tour's largest South Korean Women's Event
The KRW 300,000 Event #37: Women's Event set a new APT country record for South Korea, drawing a 63-strong field (53 unique), and generating a KRW 16,499,700 (~USD $12,420) prize pool.
The action played out over twenty-seven 20-minute levels, with Japan's Yuri Ishida topping the field to take the KRW 4,819,700 (~USD $3,650) top prize.
Ishida bested Thailand's Gatmanee Jitlert heads-up to claim her fourth APT title and win her third poker ladies event in total, bringing her total live winnings up to over USD $640,000.
Jitlert collected KRW 3,460,000 (~USD $2,620) for her runner-up finish, with Taiwan's Pei Chen Lee rounding out the top three, taking KRW 2,250,000 (~USD $1,700) for third place.
