DA NANG, VIETNAM, December 12, 2022 – Playing out in the ballroom of the five-star Risemount Premier Resort, the third and final opening flight of the APT Da Nang Vietnam VSOP 2022 Main Event – partnered with the Vietnam Series of Poker (VSOP) – proved to be the most popular, drawing a sizable 182 entries (126 unique).

While this brings the total number of entries up to 347, Day 2 registration remains open for the first two levels of play, meaning the field is expected to grow still further.

The local players put on a stellar performance to dominate the end of day podium, with Vietnam's Manh Hung Dinh the man sitting in the box seat after the eight 60-minute levels concluded, bagging up a stack of 257,400 to put him firmly atop the chip counts coming into Day 2.

It was another Vietnamese player – Le Quoc Son – who bagged the second largest stack of the day, and Son will be returning second in the overall counts with a stack of 240,500 when Day 2 resumes at 12pm (GMT+7) on Tuesday December 13.

Vietnam's Duc Trung Vu (164,700) rounded out the top three, with the top ten stacks as follows:

Other notables to find a bag included Belgium's Kristof Segers (50,400), Singapore's Benjamin Sai (27,300), and India's Ashish Munot (17,700).

Both Vietnam's Nguyen Trung Phong (69,200), and Malta's Remi Florent (41,500) qualfied twice, meaning their two shortest stacks – a total of 20,600 in chips – have been removed from play.

The 89 Day 1C survivors will join with the 33 Day 1B and 34 Day 1A survivors, with the 154 combined survivors returning for Day 2, which gets underway at 12pm (GMT+7) on Tuesday, December 13.

Vietnam's Tran Nam Trung Takes Down No Limit Hold'em Single Day

The ₫7,000,000+700,000 Event #15 No Limit Hold'em Single Day attracted 123 (95 unique) entrants, generating a ₫835,170,000 (~$35,075) prize pool.

Competition for the cash spots was fiercely contested, with plenty of talent in the field.

This included reigning APT Korea Incheon Main Event champion Farhad Aghayev, World Series bracelet winner Aditya Shushant, High Roller 6 Max Hyper runner-up Dan Nover, Singapore's Feng Zhao and 2018 APT Manila Finale champion Mikiya Kudo to name but a few.

Of these, only Shushant (10th for ₫17,800,000) and Nover (13th for ₫14,830,000) were successful in thier quest to make the money.

However, it was Vietnam's Tran Nam Trung the man to claim the lion's share of the prize pool, defeating fellow countryman Bui Tuan Hoang heads-up to take the ₫205,020,000 (~$8,610) top prize, winning his maiden APT title in the process.

Vietnam's Duc Phuc Nguyen Victorious in Event #16 Deep Stack Turbo

The ₫388,000,000 Event #16: Deep Stack Turbo drew 80 runners (58 unique), generating a ₫388,000,000 (~$16,295) total prize pool.

It was Vietnam's Duc Phuc Nguyen the man to take it down, defeating Ireland's Donnchadh Drumm to claim the ₫105,400,000 (~$4,425) top prize and his maiden APT title.

Drumm collected ₫70,260,000 (~$2,950) for his runner-up finish, with 14 players making the cash and the official eight-handed final table paying out as follows:

Tran Duy Binh Wins Event #12 Super Deep Stack Turbo, Sergey Indenok Wins Second Series Title in Event #13 Deep Stack Turbo

Two more of the APT Da Nang Vietnam VSOP 2022 turbo events are in the books, both playing out in the early hours of Monday morning.

The first of these – the ₫7,000,000+700,000 Event #12: Super Deep Stack Turbo – saw Vietnam's Tran Duy Binh see off challenges from a 100-strong field (80 unique) to claim the lion's share of the ₫679,000,000 (~$28,520) prize pool.

Binh defeated Singapore's Corine Shi to take the ₫175,780,000 (~$7,380) top prize, with Shi receiving ₫117,200,000 for their runner-up finish.

A total of 17 players made the money, with the official eight-handed final table paying out as follows:

The second of these saw Ukraine's Sergey Indenok claim his second APT title of the series, following up his Event #7 Pot Limit Omaha win with victory in the ₫5,000,000+500,000 Event #13 Deep Stack Turbo.

Indenok bested a 95-strong field (76 unique), defeating Main Event Day 1A frontrunner Keita Minami to take the ₫121,160,000 (~$5,085) top prize.

Minami earned ₫80,790,000 for his runner-up finish, with Vietnam's Phuong Ngoc Nguyen rounding out the podium, receiving ₫56,160,000 for third.
