DA NANG, VIETNAM, December 9, 2022 – The first of the APT Da Nang Vietnam VSOP 2022's marquee events – the ₫9,000,000+900,000 (~$415) Event #1 Mystery Bounty – is in the books, with Singapore's Benjamin Sai defeating a 241-strong field to claim the crown.

Playing out in the ballroom of the five-star Risemount Premier Resort and partnered with the Vietnam Series of Poker (VSOP), just 65 Mystery Bounty hunters remained in contention at the start of Day 2, all battling for a share of the ₫2,103,930,000 (~$88,365) prize pool.

However, none came close to Sai, who defeated the Netherland's Joris Michl heads-up to take the ₫334,660,000 ($14,055) top prize, in addition to claiming four scalps for a further ₫27,200,000 in bounties. That put's the Singaporean's total haul up to ₫361,860,000 ($15,200).

Not a bad result for a man who admittedly prefers cash games to tournaments:

"I’m a cash game player and have converted to International tournaments this year – I’ve been playing a lot and I love the APT Series. But I’m feeling hungry!" said Sai immediately after his win.

Ironically, the 31-year-old online cash grinder was not even planning to play the event.

"Truth be told, I was not supposed to play this Mystery Bounty," Sai confided in his post-win interview.

"I max late-reg’d this thing [Mystery Bounty] and lucky I did…"

While that is certainly true, Sai did not hold the monopoly on luck, with the Lady also favouring his heads-up opponent Michl. Sai might have earned the glory – and his maiden APT title – it was Michl the man to earn the most cold, hard cash.

The Dutchman won two of the three largest bounties on offer for the tournament, padding out his ₫223,120,000 runner-up score with a further ₫265,300,000 in bounties, bringing his total haul up to ₫488,420,000 (~$20,510).

A total of 25 players made the money, with the official eight-handed final table paying out as follows:

Vietnam's Phan Bao Leads Final Table of Event #4 Head Hunter

Playing out concurrently with the Mystery Bounty with a slightly later start time of 1pm, the ₫8,000,000+800,000 Event #4: Head Hunter drew a 132-strong field (87 unique) and generated a ₫1,024,320,000 (~$ 43,020) total prize pool – including ₫264,000,000 in bounties.

Notables in contention included APT Philippines 2022, Manila Championships Event winner Paul Kiem, and all three of the previously mention Indian players in the form of Aditya Sushant, Akshay Kapoor and Abishek Paul.

Of these, only Sushant would make the money, coming up just short of a final table appearance after running the nut flush into an opponent's jacks full to hit the rail in 14th for ₫13,340,000.

However, it was Phan Bao the man to top the counts, and the Vietnamese player will be returning for the official eight-handed final table with a chip lead of 279,000.

With blinds recommencing at 2,500/5,000 with a 5,000 big blind ante, that gives Bao a stack of 55BB with which to make his run at the title.

Belgium's Kristof Segers (226,500) will be the only other player to return with a stack of over 200k, with Japan's Masaya Nakagawa (197,000) rounding out the top three, with the final table as follows:
