APT Main Event Day 1C and 1D come to and end
PostedJust nowby Life of Poker
Like the last days the cards in the VSOP Poker Club were in the air at exactly 11 AM. On the schedule Day 1C of the Main Event at 11 AM, and a Day 1D flight at 5 PM. The guaranteed prize pool of 10 billion Vietnamese Dong got shattered by the first level of Day 1C as 45 players registered already before the start of the day. Out of a combined 260 entries today 124 would make it to Day 2.
A total of 155 entries on Day 1C, made sure the poker room was packed. Many familiar faces would try took make it to Day 2. We saw the likes of Ashish Munot, Lester Edoc, Grant Gardner, and Benjamin Sai all trying to build a stack. Last year’s champion Shardul Parthasarathi would join the action as well. The Indian would survive the day with two times starting stack.
While many big names in the industry were there, none of them was able to build a huge stack. That honor goes to Vietnamese poker professional Huy Thanh Le (photo). He will bring a bag of 224,700 to Day 2 tomorrow. He is closely followed by his countryman Quang Minh Nguyen (218,000) and Tran Van Thai (212,400).
Day 1D, which started at 5 PM, received a total number of 105 entries. This brings the total number of entries for the APT Hanoi Main Event to 640. This number can still grow as the registration closes at 10:59 AM tomorrow.
The Day 1D chip lead goes to Haito Luan (photo) from China. He survived the day with 196,000. Other familiar names that would make it to Day 2 on this last flight were Phan Minh Duc (159,000), Florencio Campomanes (85,500), and Dave Erquiaga (60,300).
Day 2 of the APT Hanoi Main Event will resume at 11 AM local time (GMT+6). All the action will also be available on the live stream.

Ferlyn Cabaling busts in the last hand of Day 1D
PostedJust nowby Life of Poker
In the last hand of the day Women's Event champion Ferlyn Cabaling got busted by Pham Ngoc Tu.
After Tu went all-in he told her "let's gamble!", and Cabaling was interested. Her last 27,000 went into the middle with J♠ T♥. Tu shows A♠ Q♠.
The Q♥ in the window kills the rails excitement, but the K♣ 2♠ brings cheers to the rail! Cabaling still has seven outs and the J♦ on the turn even adds two more outs. Nine outs, but the river 6♦ was not one of them. Maybe we see Cabaling back tomorrow.
Cezar Quiambao grinding
PostedJust nowby Life of Poker
Cezar Quiambao is on his very first poker trip abroad, and he is having a blast. The Filipino just won a decent pot non-showdown.
Quiambao leads out 16,500 in a 24,000 pot. The board at this moment reads 2♦ 6♦ K♣ 7♣. Quang Huy Nguyen, known for a big fan of draws, is in the tank. The Vietnamese covers Quiambao, but he seems impressed by the bet and lets it go.
With this pot Quiambao most likely will survive Day 1D.

Iglesias Pau forced to re-enter on Day 2
PostedJust nowby Life of Poker
We are about to go into the last level of the day in the Main Event when we see Pau raise to 2,500. He gets 3-bet to 7,500 by his neigbor Yong Kiang Foo. Pau only on 21,400 goes all-in and Foo shows him the bad news.
Foo: A♣ A♥.
Pau: Q♠ Q♥
A cruel setup for the Spaniard and after the flop it was all over: A♦ A♠ K♠. Pau did shout out for a jack of spade, but the 3♥ on the turn stopped Pau's dream to create the ultimate comeback in poker history. Pau will re-enter tomorrow he told us.
Dave Erquiaga goes to value town
PostedJust nowby Life of Poker
Every player hates to visit value town. Newest citizen of value town? Dave Erquiaga. On a board of 9♠ 9♥ 3♥ 4♦ 2♦ his opponent Huynh Ngoc Cuong bets out 9,000 in a pot of 13,000. Erquiaga makes the tank-call, and sees the bad news. Cuong shows him A♠ A♥.
Erquiaga down to starting stack again.
