Julien Tran Leads The Way in APT Main Event

Julien Tran
That's a wrap for Day 2 of the APT Main Event as 48 players have bagged up their stacks to take forward into Day 3. There were 231 entries to start the day with 25 new players being registered for Day 2 before play kicked off. This created a record-breaking 507 entries for the Phu Quoc leg of the APT and generated a prize pool of ₫14,753,700,000 ($619,655) with the winner taking home a cool ₫2,847,540,000 ($119,600).
After just over eight 60-minute levels, it was Julien Tran of Vietnam who takes through the biggest stack with an impressive 1,045,000 chips. Tran came through Flight A with only 29,900 chips, which was way below the average, but managed to avoid elimination early on and finish the day as the chip leader.
Matthieu Lamagnere comes into Day 3 in second with a 1,017,000 stack and is the only other player, along with Tran, to break the magical 1,000,000 chip mark. Lamagnere was involved in a lot of captivating hands including one in which he folded a set of tens on the river against Vietnam's Toan Chan Truong. Lamagnere would be making headlines again, this time in a giant pot against Roman Hrabec when the Czech player's pocket tens were no match for Lamagnere's pocket aces.
American player Peter Kiem completes the top three places as he comes through with 956,000 chips. Kiem always looks calm and composed at the table and will be looking to use his experience to leverage his way to the APT Main Event title.
John Perry
John Perry brings through a good-sized stack of 807,000. Perry is fresh off of a victory in a High Roller event where he won over $100,000 and he would love to make another final table appearance here. Perry was the man to burst the bubble as he eliminated Trinh Anh Dung when his seven-eight out-flopped Dung's queen-jack. Dung did have Main Event Bubble Protection so will be credited with a ticket to a future APT Main Event.
Phachara Wongwichit bagged up 457,000 chips as he looks to add to the four APT titles he already has to his name. Wongwichit doubled up in level 16 against Australia's Zhen Zhao Lu Anton when Anton 4-bet all in holding ace-four suited. Wongwichit's pocket tens held despite Anton flopping a flush draw and that set the experienced Thai player on his way to Day 3.
There were three ladies who made it through to Day 3 with Japan's Yukina Oza bringing forward the largest stack between them. Oza bagged up 935,000 chips with Nguyen Thi Bao An bringing 262,000 through. Monika Zucowicz completes the trio as she finished the day with a stack of 165,000.
Other notables to make it into Day 3 were Albert Gorelik with 835,000, Deepak Bothra with 684,000, Yuan Yilu with 621,000, Dinh Xuan Dinh with 317,000, and Kuriga Satoshi with 268,000.
Join us tomorrow for Day 3 of the Main Event where the last 48 players will be whittled down to a final table of just eight individuals. Play will resume at 12pm local time and as always, live updates will be here for you to follow. There will also be a live stream with a 30-minute delay that you can watch by following the links below.
Jones Cold 4-Bets
PostedJust nowby Life of Poker
Craig Daniel Jones was involved in another pot just before the day came to an end.
Li Shankui opened to 22,000 and was 3-bet by Ngoc Anh Cao. The action got to Jones who cold 4-bet to 133,000. The world really wasn't enough for Jones as he wanted to accumulate as many chips as possible to take through into Day 3.
Both his opponents folded and Jones scooped another pot to finish the day with over 600,000 showing why he really is the man with the golden pun.
Ross Gets a Late Double
PostedJust nowby Life of Poker
Daniel John Ross
Daniel John Ross got his 150,000 stack all-in against Nguyen Tuan Anh. Anh had Ross covered to start the hand so it was the British player at risk,
Ross A♦ K♣.
Anh K♦ K♠.
Ross was in trouble and needed to pull a rabbit out of the hat, or an ace out of the deck, to survive.
Ross did pull something out of the deck but it wasn't an ace. The flop came T♠ J♦ Q♦ flopping him broadway which virtually locked up the hand for him. The turn came a 9♠ giving Anh a lower straight and the river T♥ secured the pot for Ross and sent his stack up to 300,000.
Lamagnere Takes The Chip Lead
PostedJust nowby Life of Poker
Matthieu Lamagnere A huge pot just played out between Roman Hrabec and Matthieu Lamagnere.
We pick up the action on the turn with around 150,000 chips in the pot, Lamagnere bet 80,000 and Hrabec made the call on a board of 6♠ 4♣ 7♣ 6♥.
The river came a 7♠ putting two pair on the board and Hrabec, as he did earlier against Oleg Titov, made a small river lead into his opponent for 35,000. Lamagnere took his time before going all in for 441,000 and Hrabec went into the tank. In the earlier hand that Hrabec played against Titov, he bet small on the river and called a large raise from Titov correctly. Would he come to the same decision here?
Hrabec used two time-extension chips and eventually put forward calling chips. The pot was now worth over 1,000,000 chips!
Lamagnere flipped A♣ A♥ and Hrabec could only show T♣ T♦ and the Frenchman was shipped a giant pot as we approach the end of Day 2.
Tuan Timed Out
PostedJust nowby Life of Poker
Ngoc Anh Cao opened to 16,000 only for La Anh Tuan to 3-bet to 51,000. Cao thought about his options before 4-bet ripping into Tuan who went deep into the tank, using his last two time-extension chips.
When his last 30-second countdown had reached zero, he was forced to fold his hand as he had no more extension chips remaining.
Bubble Protection

Even though Trinh Anh Dung did bubble our Main Event, he was wise enough to register on time and take his seat before play started which entitled him to 100% totally free Main Event Bubble Protection.
Dung will be credited with a ticket to a future APT Main Event which just goes to show it pays to get protected.
Good luck to Dung in the next APT Main Event!
The Bubble Has Burst in The APT Main Event

John Perry shoved the button into two short-stacked players in the blinds. Small blind, Trinh Anh Dung, made the call to put his tournament life at risk on the stone-cold bubble! Dung had around 70,000 chips to start the hand and needed to win the pot to stay alive and double up to over 150,000.
Once again, the tournament director instructed players not to reveal their cards until the play on all other tables had been completed. Camera crews, players, and spectators rushed to the table to witness the hand which could potentially see all other players in the tournament make it into the money. It was time to reveal the hands.
Perry 7♠ 8♣.
Dung Q♥ J♦.
It seems Dung didn't need to make the call as he had more than enough chips to play a few more rounds but nonetheless, the Vietnamese player was all-in and there was no turning back now.
It was time for the flop to be dealt.
5♣ 5♥ 7♥.
Perry had flopped a pair which elated everybody watching, except for Trinh Anh Dung of course. Dung now had to hit a queen or a jack to stay alive in the Main Event and not become the bubble boy.
The turn came a 3♦. Still no help for Dung who was down to his last chance. He had six outs with one card to come.
The anticipation was too much for some as they turned away as the dealer prepared to deal the river.
The dealer burned and turned the A♣! Perry had burst the bubble by pairing his seven on the flop. Dung hung his head as Perry, with his all-in glasses on, punched the air in delight. Players all around the room had smiles on their faces but none seemed bigger than Perry's who seemed to be really savoring the moment.
Everybody remaining in the tournament was in the money and now we continue to play until we reach the last 48 who will return tomorrow for Day 3.
No Time To Die

All in and a call!
Craig Daniel Jones shoved the button covering both blinds and was called by big blind Ngoc Hai Duy Nguyen.
Both players kept their hands concealed until instructed to reveal them by the tournament director. Once it was confirmed that no other tables had stacks, Jones and Nguyen flipped their cards.
Jones had 6♣ 6♠ but was in trouble against the A♠ A♣ of Nguyen, with Nguyen the player at risk of bubbling.
A large crowd had gathered around the table to see the board dealt out. Once the camera crews were in place the dealer dealt a flop.
2♠ 3♠ 2♦.
A very safe flop for Nguyen, who also had the suits of Jones covered. Jones needed a six or backdoor straight cards but the odds were heavily against the Englishman.
The turn T♣ removed any possibility of a backdoor straight and Jones needed a six and a six only to eliminate Nguyen and burst the bubble.
The river was a 9♠. Somewhat of an upside-down six but not good enough for Jones as Nguyen fist-bumps the air and is swarmed by his entourage.
We continue hand-for-hand play.
Khanh(t) Hold On
PostedJust nowby Life of Poker
Ngoc Minh Le (middle left) Truong Vu Tuan Khanh (right)
Truong Vu Tuan Khanh has just bubbled the bubble!
Khanh got the last of his chips in against Ngoc Minh Le with Q♠ Q♥. Le held K♥ T♥ for a pair, an overcard, and a flush draw when the board read 8♥ 5♥ T♣. Khanh would need to fade a lot of outs if he wanted to remain in the APT Main Event.
Unfortunately for Khanh, the turn 2♥ meant Le turned a flush which sent the Main Event runner-up out of the tournament as he was drawing dead.
Khanh finishes in 73rd place and we are now on the direct bubble.
No Fear in Jones

Craig Daniel Jones shoved his last 70,000 chips into the middle with A♥ Q♠ and was called by Jun Hao Wu.
Wu held 9♦ 9♥ and needed to hold to knock out Jones and send us ever closer to the money.
Jones had help on the flop when it came 5♥ J♠ A♦ to propel him into the lead. The turn T♣ and river 2♠ didn't help Wu and Jones doubles up to 150,000.
A brave shove from Jones? His name does contain Daniel Craig so we should expect him to have no fear.
Jones lives to Die Another Day.
