PHU QUOC, VIETNAM, April 1, 2023 – The APT Phu Quoc ₫30,000,000+3,000,000 Main Event has a champion, with the UK's Jacque Ramsden running roughshod over the Final Table to claim his first major title.
Playing out at the Sapphire Conference Room at the luxurious Corona Resort & Casino, just 9 players out of the 507-strong Main Event field remained in contention at the start of the fourth and final day, all looking to earn their share of the ₫14,753,700,000 (~$619,655) prize pool.
It took Ramsden just five 60-minute levels to clinch the title and a top prize of ₫2,304,200,000 ($99,080) after cutting a deal with heads-up opponent Julien Tran that saw the Vietnamese player lock up ₫2,337,300,000 ($100,500) with the duo then playing it out for the title, trophy and a further ₫107,500,000 ($4,600) in cash.
“I’d just say I ran very well throughout the tournament in multiple good spots with aces versus ace-king and then was patient when nothing was coming my way, and was aggressive when I needed to be,” Ramsden stated modestly after claiming his maiden APT title.
“I’ll probably buy a watch and then maybe invest a little bit,” said Ramsden when asked what he planned to do with his winnings in his post-match interview.
“Thanks for all the support guys, and good luck to everyone else in the next one!” Ramsden stated, before heading off to the cage to collect the winner's purse.

APT High Roller – 8 Max Draws 102 Entries Generating ₫4.947 (~$212K) Prize Pool; Russia's Nikolay Ponomarenko Leads
Russia's Nikolay Ponomarenko leads Day 1 of the APT High Roller – 8 Max
The two-day ₫50,000,000+5,000,000 Event #38 APT High Roller – 8 Max saw 102 players (64 unique) in action, all looking to lock up a Day 2 seat and claim their slice of the ₫4,947,000,000 (~$212,720) prize pool.
Notables in the running included some of the Asia-Pacifc region's best and brightest, with India's Aditya Agarwal and Siddharth Karia, the Philippine's Florencio Campomanes and Richard Marquez, Main Event finalists Hayato Kitajima and Satoshi Kuriga, Singapore's Benjamin Sai, and Hong Kong's Hon Cheong Lee – just to name a few.
After the fifteen 40-minute levels played out, just 31 players were left in contention for Day 2 and a shot at claiming the ₫1,263,940,000 (~$54,350) top prize – with 15 players making the money.

It is Nikolay Ponomarenko who will be returning atop the counts for the second and final day, with the Russian bagging up an impressive 807,000 in chips.
The USA's Kim Jin Woo will be returning second in the counts after concluding play with a stack of 700,000.
Japanese vlogger Shunsuke "Shunpoker" Tokoo (620,000) rounded out the top three Day 1 stacks, with the top ten as follows:

Australia's Matthew Bevin Wins Inaugural Double Stack for ₫311.9M (~$13.4K)
Just 20 players returned from a starting field of 134 entries (97 unique) for the second and final day of the ₫10,000,000+1,000,000 Event #33 Double Stack all guaranteed a share of the ₫1,299,800,000 (~$55,900) prize pool.
It was Australia's Matthew Bevin who claimed the ₫311,910,000 (~$13,400) top prize, defeating Vietnam's Nhu Hai Le heads-up to claim his maiden APT title in the process.
Le received ₫211,870,000 ($9,100) for his runner-up finish, with Russia's Egor Starovoitov rounding out the winner's podium and taking ₫139,730,000 ($6,000) for third, with the official eight-handed final table paying out as follows:

Mini Main Event Attracts 136 Entries with ₫1BN (~45K) Prize Pool up for Grabs; Australia's Kiale Matthews Tops Day 1 Counts
Kiale Matthews topped the Day 1B flight to take the overall chip lead in the Mini Main Event
The ₫8,000,000+800,000 Event #37 Mini Main Event drew a total of 136 entries (92 unique) over the two starting flights, generating a ₫1,055,360,000 (~$45,380) prize pool.
Day 1A got underway at 12pm local time and saw 88 players in action, with South Korea's Hosung Jang topping the opening flight's counts with a stack of 487,000.
Japan's Yashiro Naoki (471,000), and Vietnam's Tran Duc Dong (446,000) rounded out the top three Day 1A stacks, with a total of 13 players making it through to Day 2.
The second and final starting flight – Day 1B – saw a further 48 players enter the tournament arena, with Australia's Kiale Matthews bagging the biggest stack of 563,000 – putting him in the overall lead coming into Day 2.
The UK's Craig Jones (478,000), and Poland's Monika Zukowicz (240,000) both followed up their deep runs in the Main Event by bagging top three Day 1B stacks, with seven players making the Day 2 cut.

Mongolia's Nyamdari Khatanbold made his first APT cash a memorable one
Finishing up in the early hours of Saturday morning, the ₫5,000,000+500,000 Event #35 Turbo attracted a 44-strong field and generated a ₫213,400,000 (~$9,175) prize pool.
It was Mongolia's Nyamdari Khatanbold who claimed the ₫72,550,000 (~$3,120) top prize, defeating Singapore's Shi Huiqi Corine heads-up to make his first APT cash a memorable title win.
Corine received ₫50,150,000 ($2,150) for second place, with the Philippine's Karen Talamayan following up her fifth-place finish in the Women's Event by taking third for ₫32,010,000 ($1,375).
