MANILA, PHILIPPINES, February 13, 2025– The Superstar Challenge, the highest buy-in event on the APT circuit at PHP 1.5 million, has concluded its first day with only six players remaining in contention for four money-making spots. At the top of the leaderboard sits Australian pro Matthew Wakeman, who commands a stack of 1,946,000 chips heading into Day 2. Wakeman, a seasoned high-stakes competitor with over USD 1.6 million in live earnings, will look to convert his chip lead into his first APT title.
Not far behind is Tobias Schwecht, the current APT Super High Roller champion, sitting on 1,158,000 chips. Schwecht has already shown his prowess in navigating elite fields, and another deep finish could further solidify his already storied series.
Natural8 ambassador and Thai poker superstar Punnat Punsri sits third with 992,000 chips. A former APT Main Event champion, Punsri is no stranger to high-pressure final tables and will be a serious threat to sneak a path to the title.

Wang Claims First APT Title in Event #60: Turbo - High Roller - Double Stack
Wang adds his first APT title to his poker career
China’s Zihao Wang finally breaks his APT duck by securing his first-ever APT title in Event #60: Turbo - High Roller - Double Stack. After two prior cashes this series, Wang outlasted a 41-entry (37 unique) field to take home PHP 723,440 (~USD 12,298).
Japan’s Ryosuke Kubodera fought hard but had to settle for runner-up, earning PHP 499,000 (~USD 8,483). South Korea’s Jae Geun Lim rounded out the podium, securing PHP 319,000 (~USD 5,423) for his third-place finish.

Godena Wins Second APT Title of the Series in Event #61: Mix Game Masters - 9 Game
Godena now has three APT titles to his name
Australian poker pro Jarryd Godena continued his stellar run in the series, securing his second APT title in Event #61: Mix Game Masters - 9 Game. With over USD 700,000 in live earnings, Godena showed his prowess by besting a 26-entry field to claim PHP 565,840 (~USD 9,610). This is Godena’s third APT title overall.
American Thomas Anthony Teresi III pushed for the title but ultimately had to settle for second place, taking home PHP 377,000 (~USD 6,409). Fellow Australian Dale Andrew Townsend rounded out the podium, earning PHP 243,000 (~USD 4,131) for third place.

All in a Day’s Work for Greg in Event #62: NL Hold’em - Single Re-Entry
Greg can finally silence the naysayers with his largest live cash in tournament poker
Canadian poker personality Gregory Liow, better known as "Greg Goes All In," finally succeeds in taking down an event by his own powers in Event #62: NL Hold’em - Single Re-Entry for his second APT title. While he is more known for his content than crushing tournaments, Greg proved the doubters wrong this time, outlasting a massive 218-entry field to pocket PHP 703,665 (~USD 11,961), perhaps enough to cover his live tournament losses. His next YouTube video is one to look out for!
After earlier min-cashing the Main Event, Greg took things up a notch here and took home his largest live cash of his poker career. India’s Bhavik Harshilbhai Khatsuria came close to denying him the win but ultimately settled for PHP 477,000 (~USD 8,109) in second place, while Malaysia’s Beng Key Teoh rounded out the top three, claiming PHP 337,000 (~USD 5,729).

Terry Gonzaga Glides to Victory in Event #65: PL Omaha High - Lazy Rivers
Gonzaga takes home his second APT title
Filipino poker pro Terry Gonzaga smoothly navigated the 51-entry field in Event #65: PL Omaha High - Lazy Rivers, capturing his second APT title and adding another PHP 162,017 (~USD 2,754) to his live earnings of over USD 600,000.
China’s Wanhao Zhao fell just short, finishing runner-up with PHP 118,000 (~USD 2,006), while Russia’s Anton Lysenko claimed third place, taking home PHP 75,000 (~USD 1,275).

Lyla Ho Claims Victory in Event #66: Women's Event
Lyla Ho has a Women's Event title to her name after finishing fourth in the Women's Championship
After falling just short in the Women's Championship earlier in the series with a fourth-place finish, Taiwan’s Lyla Ho found redemption by taking down Event #66: Women's Event. Ho outlasted 40 entries to seize the PHP 209,168 (~USD 3,556) top prize.
American contender Lisa Hua Hua Han put up a strong fight but settled for second place, earning PHP 145,000 (~USD 2,465). Belgium’s Coralie Nauder Renaud completed the podium, taking home PHP 92,000 (~USD 1,564).

Cooper Claims Seventh APT Title in Event #68: Turbo - NL Single Draw Mix
Cooper now has seven APT titles
The United Kingdom’s Craig Anthony Cooper continued his string of success on the APT circuit, securing his seventh APT title in Event #68: Turbo - NL Single Draw Mix. Already boasting three cashes this series, including a runner-up finish in Event #41: 5 Card Draw Masters, Cooper finally sealed the deal, outlasting a 26-entry field to collect PHP 110,577 (~USD 1,879).
Australian Antonio Seremet once again fell just short of his first title this series, settling for second place and PHP 74,000 (~USD 1,258). Meanwhile, China’s Jun Weng locked up another podium finish, earning PHP 47,000 (~USD 799) for third place.

Tanpichai on a Heater with Victory in Event #69: Tick Tock BOOM!
Tanpichai's series has been an astounding one, with the amateur having three cashes and an APT title so far
Thailand’s Wisinee Tanpichai is running hot, adding a first APT title to her incredible series by winning Event #69: Tick Tock BOOM!. The Thai amateur, who had already secured three prior cashes in this series, finally managed to take it over the line, claiming PHP 109,472 (~USD 1,860) in this 26-entry event.
An ICM deal was struck between Tanpichai and heads up opponent, Singapore’s Mun Leong Cheong as they went down to the final two. Due to this, Cheong ends up taking home PHP 120,000 (~USD 2,040). The United Kingdom’s Steven Smart rounded out the podium, pocketing PHP 59,000 (~USD 1,020) for his efforts.

Suzuki Grabs Second APT Title of the Series in Event #70: Super Hyper Turbo
Suzuki's second APT title of the series comes in another turbo event
Japan’s Kohei Suzuki proved once again that he thrives in the fast-paced formats, securing his second APT title of the series by taking down Event #70: Super Hyper Turbo. Outlasting a 61-entry field, Suzuki blitzed through the action to lock up PHP 137,524 (~USD 2,184).
Hong Kong’s Kaga Tam came close but ultimately had to settle for PHP 93,000 (~USD 1,700) in second place, while Australia’s Tashi James Harrower earned PHP 63,000 (~USD 1,020) for third place.
