Hai Nam Hoang leads final 8 at APT Hanoi Main Event

PostedJust nowby Life of Poker

After three full days of poker inside the VSOP Poker Club we have reached the final 8 of the APT Hanoi Main Event. Day 3 started with 48 players eyeing that top prize of ₫3,025,950,000 (~$127,089). Our chip leader at the start of the day was German Bukharov. The Russian started the day as the massive chip leader. ENZ_9945.jpg

For some of our familiar faces that made it to Day 3, it was a short day. For the likes of Tom Alner, Teddy Pham, William Kang, and Ahmed Ibrahimi it was a short-lived day. While the eliminations were piling up, other players stepped up to the occasion. There were great starts for Assem Kulseitova, Tuan Tia Nguyen, and Hai Nam Hoang.

At the final two tables, it all went horribly for Aaron Lim (15th). The Australian busted after Junam Lee hits his gutshot against him and Lim couldn’t get away from top pair top kicker.

The sickest hand of the day took place between Phan Dinh Nam and Assem Kulseitova. Nam’s 8♠ 8♦ were far behind of Kulseitova’s 9♠ 9♥. The window card 8♥ let Nam celebrate, but the 9♦ also came on the flop. A rollercoaster of emotions for Nam. From pure joy to bitter disappointment. The 8♣ turn made the Vietnamese once again explode with happiness. Kulseitova busted because her opponent hits his one-outer. NZO06668.jpg

After the bust outs of Xiang Guang Chang (11th), and Junam Lee (10th) we made the unofficial final table. Our massive chip leader at this final table was Vietnamese poker professional Hai Nam Hoang. He dominated his last few tables and kept doing this at the final 9. One more player had to bust before Day 3 would come to an end. This painful honor would go to Nguyen Anh Minh (9th) after he ran his K♠ 3♠ into the pocket jacks of Son Le. ENZ_9967.jpg

The final 8 will come back tomorrow at 11 AM local time (GMT+6) to play down to a winner. All the action can be followed through the live stream of The Asian Poker Tour on Facebook, Youtube, and Twitch.

Junam Lee busted out in 10th place (₫203,000,000)

PostedJust nowby Life of Poker

The final table bubble got broken by Junam Lee. The Korean pushed his last 500k to the middle with 5♠ 5♥ and received a call from Thanh Hai Nguyen's Q♦ J♦.

The Korean's stormed towards the rail to watch the runout. They saw Lee was in trouble when a J♠ Q♣ 2♣ came out. The 3♦ and 4♦ meant Junam Lee was our final table bubble boy. NZO06881.jpg

Phan Dinh Nam out in 12th (₫167,950,000)

PostedJust nowby Life of Poker

Only a few minutes after Nam busted Kulseitova he got involved into an all-in situation again. This time it was for his tournament life.

The action started with a raise from Hoang to 135k, from the small blind Nam made it 450k. Everyone else went out of the way and Hoang made the call.

The flop comes 7♣ 4♠ T♥, Nam checked his option and Hoang leads out, Nam is not impressed and announced all-in. He got snap called by Hoang's 7♠ 7♥. Nam showed J♥ J♠.

The board ran out clean for Hoang, and just like that we lose Nam in 12th place. NZO06858.jpg

One outer sends Kulseitova to the rail in 13th place (₫167,950,000)

PostedJust nowby Life of Poker

We pick up the action preflop when we saw Phan Dinh Nam raising from the button to 125k. Assem Kulseitova in the small blind is down to 650k and announced all-in. Big blinds Lee goes out of the way and Nam made the snap call.

Kulseitova: 9♠ 9♥.

Nam: 8♠ 8♦.

Nam saw the 8♥ in the window and started the cheer. The 9♦ and 2♦ followed right away and Nam's cheering went into utter disappointment. Kulseitova in a massive lead. The 8♣ on the turn, made Nam lose it. The Vietnamese danced and cheered out of pure happiness. Kulseitova can't believe what is going on. The Q♦ ended the run of the last female in this tournament.
