APT Main Event - VND 12,000,000,000 GTD Flight B (45 mins)

Leo Kamiya bagged up 295,000 chips to come through as the chip leader in Flight B of the APT Main Event. The second of four flights saw 202 entries (159 unique) with 91 players managing to bag up a stack to bring forward into Day 2 which will play out on Thursday, June 1. This brings the cumulative total of Main Event entries to 345 with two flights still to play out.

Kamiya bagging up the top stack should come as no surprise to anybody that is familiar with the Australian player as he already has an APT title to his name which came at the Taipei leg of the Asian Poker Tour, that saw records being broken all over the place.

India's Kunal Patni takes through 193,100 in his search for a third APT title. Patni took down two Hyper Turbo events in Hanoi on consecutive days earlier in the year for a combined score of over $11,000 and boasts over $650,000 in live tournament earnings.

Zarvan Tumboli also managed to bring through a respectable stack of 131,300 as he hunts down a third APT title. The Indian pro has almost half a million dollars in live career earnings and is looking to add to his haul by running deep in the Main Event here in Hanoi.

Former Main Event winner Farhad Aghayev will have some work to do come Day 2 as he bagged up 32,500 chips. Being the short stack will certainly not deter the Azerbaijani national as he will be all too familiar playing at these stack depths.

Other notables to make it through were Shung Er Sua (99,800), Anton Lu (86,200), David Erquiaga (83,300), Robert Kiss (76,400), Luke Martinelli (68,500), Laksh Pal Singh (63,200), and Feng Zhao (39,300).

The tournament director has announced that five more hands will be played and then stacks will be bagged and tagged ready for Day 2.

With 25 minutes left on the clock, it seems as if Leo Kamiya is the chip leader with a stack of around 320,000.

Kamiya finished runner-up in the PLO event yesterday and went better in the same tournament in Taipei, taking home the trophy and a prize of TWD 364,425.

Can Kamiya keep his chip lead or will somebody else make a last-minute dash to the top of the leaderboard?

We caught the dealer counting out the chips of Yimeng Wang and taking a chunk from that of Jeon Sungkyu's.

The board read 2♥ A♠ 7♥ A♥ 9♥ with Sungkyu having 8♠ 8♥ in front of him. Those snowmen wouldn't be good though, as Wang had A♣ A♦ for quads!

A great time to double-up for Wang as the clock ticks down towards the end of the day.

Shung Er Sua has just sat down but wasted no time in scoring his first elimination.

Xizhen Huang shoved his remaining 12,100 chips into the pot with Sua putting in the required amount to make the call.

No help would come for Huang as his chips were pushed in the direction of Sua on the 4♥ 6♥ 9♦ Q♣ 7♦ board, ahd he hits the rail late in the day.

Shung Er Sua

Shung Er Sua has joined the field late in the day which brings the number of entries to over 200.

Sua already has a final appearance this series after he took ninth in the APT Kickoff for VND 36,080,000.

With just ten minutes left of level nine, there are 104 players still with stacks, all in pursuit of Day 2.

Dhaval Mudgal

Dhaval Mudgal has been involved in a lot of pots today, with this being one of the better ones.

Mudgal shoved the river on a board reading T♥ 2♦ A♣ 7♦ A♠ for around 20,000 and Vinayak Bajaj was the player with the decision. Bajaj didn't take too much time before making the call, but immediately saw some bad news as Mudgal tabled A♦ T♦ for the stone cold nuts.

Thi Huyen Nguyen shoved her last 20,000 in pre-flop and Hong Kong's Vincent Li making the call.

The board ran out J♥ 3♣ 4♦ T♦ 8♣ and a relieved Nguyen secured a double up as we get to the business end of the day.
