3-handed in the Single Day High Rollers Event
PostedJust nowby Life of Poker
We are down to 3 players in the Single Day High Rollers event.
In sixth place we saw the bust out of Niroshan Loganathan. The Canadian squeezed all-in after a raise of Lester Edoc and a call by Felix Weis. Edoc comes over the top to put Weis all-in, but he quickly makes the fold. Edoc shows K♠ K♥, while Loganathan opens A♠ 9♠. No ace from space for Loganathan as the board runs out Q♠ 3♥ 2♦ 4♣ J♣. Niroshan Loganathan busts in 6th (₫146,740,000).
Felix Weis got cripped by runninng into the K♥ K♣ Jake Wu. In the next hand Weis would be eliminated from the tournament by Edoc. For Weis this was his last day in Hanoi. This 5th place is a good way to finish his series (₫189,340,000).
Our 4th place finisher was Alok Birewar. He got very unlucky after getting his 21 big blind stack in the middle with K♠ Q♥ and receiving a call by Lester Edoc's K♦ J♥. A jack on the flop sealed the fate of Birewar. The Indian received ₫243,780,000 for his 4th place.
Phashant Bhutoria leads APT Hanoi Day 1B field
PostedJust nowby Life of Poker
Another jam packed day inside the VSOP Poker Club Hanoi today. On the schedule, APT Main Event Day 1B. After 205 entries on Day 1A, Day 1B saw a total of 175 entries. This means we are on a total of 380 entries, while Day 1C and Day 1D are still on the schedule tomorrow. The guaranteed prize pool of 10 billion Vietnamese Dong ($423,395.41) is going to get smashed as we are only 30 more entries away from breaking the guarantee.
On Day 1B we saw many familiar faces back in the field. APT Da Nang Main Event champion Doosik Nam from Korea gave it a try today. He busted pretty early on, jumped into the High Roller event, but after a bust out there he jumped back into the Main Event. In the end Nam qualified for Day 2 with a stack of 43,800. We expect Nam might give it another try tomorrow and see if he can qualify with a bigger stack.
Besides the former Main Event champion we saw several other big names join the action. Dave "Spade" Erquiaga, Sergey Rybachenko (photo), Johan Hirvonen, William Kang, Thanh Phat Nguyen, Ngoc Dai "Mr.Big" Nguyen, Thomas Lind, and William Ysmael.
The biggest pot of the day was a battle between Dave Erquiaga and Phashant Bhutoria. In a pot of 170.000 all the chips went into the middle on a board of J♥ Q♦ 7♣ 6♥. Erquiaga was holding K♥ K♦, but saw that Bhutoria flopped a set with J♣ J♥. No help for the Filipino pro and Bhutoria jumped into the chip lead. On the last level of the day the Indian won a few more pots, which saw him finish with a stack of 247,500.

Keng Yong Tan bubbles High Rollers event
PostedJust nowby Life of Poker
Keng Yong Tan was grinding his short stack for a while and could not spin it up, hitting the rail shortly afterward.
We passed by him on our way to the table and he flashed a grin after bursting the bubble. The Singaporean will certainly play more events this week. We wish him good fortune!
A redraw for the final nine took place following Tan’s departure. Players are guaranteed a min-cash of ₫71,000,000 ($3,009.89).

PostedJust nowby Life of Poker
Hung Duong Dang just picked up a pot worth around 45k, during the announcement we are playing the last three hands of the day.

Gnusaev gets some chips from Ysmael
PostedJust nowby Life of Poker
We arrive at table 5 where we see a battle between the 3rd place finished in the APT Sunday Special Dmitrii Gnusaev (photo) and Filipino cash game specialist William Ysmael.
A pot of around 35k created Q♠ 2♦ 9♥ Q♥. Gnusaev leads 4,5k into Ysmael. He checks his cards one more time before throwing them in the muck.
A decent sized pot goes Gnusaev's way while we are in the last minutes of Day 1B.
