APT Hanoi Main Event Day 2 comes to an end, 48 players come back for Day 3

PostedJust nowby Life of Poker

After almost nine and a half levels of play the APT Hanoi Main Event has come to an end. It was one of the busiest Day 2's in the history of the APT. Out of 654 entries 278 players came back for Day 2, what made sure the VSOP Poker Club was packed to is maximum capacity. The 654 entries created a total prize pool of ₫15,859,500,000 ($668,515.45). The massive chip leader at the end of Day 2 is German Bukharov. The Russian, that made three final tables already during this APT Hanoi, will bring back a stack of 3,046,000 to Day 3 tomorrow. Familiar faces that busted early on Day 2 were Lester Edoc, Doo Sik Nam, Cezar Quiambao, Jonas Magdalinski, and Sergey Rybachenko.

Vietnamese poker professional Dinh Van Tien (photo) was drawing thin when he got it all-in with A♣ J♣ versus the 3♥ 3♦ of Maksim Kholodilov on a board of 3♣ A♥ 7♦ J♦. The tournamen life of Tien was however saved due to the A♠ on the river . NZO06228.jpg

It kept on raining bust outs and just after the dinner break, the tournament reached the bubble phase. After a 20-minute bubble play we saw Niroshan Loganathan and Tran Huy Hoang both bust out of the Main Event at the same time, which meant the two players had to split a min-cash. ENZ_9685.jpg

Familiar faces that would make a min-cash but fell short of making it to the final 48: Jasven Saigal, Janag Battulga, Robert Kiss, Thai Bao Vu, Martin Finger, Zarvan Tumboli, Christopher Mateo, and Pranav Bagai (photo). NZO06241.jpg

German Bukharov (photo) never had to fear an early bust out, as the Russian found an early big double-up with pocket aces and never looked back after. In the biggest pot of the day Bukharov’s K♠ K♣ were good against a pair of jacks and a missed up-and-down. This 2.3 million pot launched Bukharov in a commanding chip lead (3,046,000). The number two in the chip counts is Do Anh Nguyen. The Vietnamese sits on 1,425,000. Chipleader (2).jpg

German Bukharov wins biggest pot of the tournament

PostedJust nowby Life of Poker

German Bukharov was our chip leader already, but at the end of Day 2 he gets involved in the by far biggest pot in the tournament so far.

We arrive at table 5 when around 500k is already inside the pot. The player in seat 1 Xiaohua Fu is already all-in on a board of J♦ T♣ 6♠.

The action now is on Takumi Araya, he bets out 150k. Bukharov now asked the dealer for a count. She confirmed to the Russian Araya played another 580k behind. Bukharov now grabbed a stack of 25k's and pushed 500k into the middle. Araya used all his timebanks before he decided to go all-in as well. Bukharov throws in the calling chips. Showdown:

Araya: A♠ J♥.

Bukharov: K♠ K♣.

Fu: 8♦ 9♦

Bukharov is on an over pair, Araya on top pair top kicker and Fu showed eight nine for an up-and-down.

The 8♥ on the turn does not change anything. Only the river can change the outcome, but Bukharov dodged all bullets as the river is the meaningless 2♠.

Bukharov wins a monster pot and rockets himself into a 2,8 million chip stack! Araya and Fu walked away disappointed. Chipleader (1).jpg

Luo is on fire

PostedJust nowby Life of Poker

Xixiang Luo has been on a role the last days here on the APT, finishing third is yesterday's Single Day High Roller, today he is crushing Day 2 of the Main Event.

He has eliminated Cheal Jae Lee after calling Lee's 46k all-in on a Q♦ 5♣ 8♥ board. Lee showed Q♠ T♦ and was miles ahead of Luo, that made the call with a gutshot J♣ T♠.

The 9♦ turn exactly sums up how Luo is running today. The Chinese hits his straight and the A♦ river finalizes the cruel runout.

Kulseitova busts Liu

PostedJust nowby Life of Poker

Assem Kulseitova is the last woman standing in the Main Event, and she keeps standing stronger and stronger.

After a preflop raise from Yuhan Liu, Kulseitova 3-bet her opponent to 60k. The action gets folded back to Liu he announced all-in for 339k.

Kulseitova tanked but decided it was time to gamble.

Liu shows 9♠ 9♣, while Kulseitova shows A♠ T♣. We are off to the races!

A perfect flop for the Kazakhstani Q♦ T♥ 2♠. She takes the lead with a pair of tens. Liu now looking for a runner-runner straight or a nine to win the hand. The 2♥ on the turn and A♣ on the river make Yuhan Liu hit the rail. Kulseitova wins the pot with two pair and is entering the top-10 chip stacks in the room. NZO05926.jpg
